Skywarn Recognition Day Special Local and Area Service
Net Information

Background: It has been suggested by the Sullivan
Area Weather Net, via
John KC0NRO, that in conjunction with the upcoming
Skywarn Recognition
Day special event we also have "Special" Skywarn
Service Nets in each
local area that wishes to participate.

The purpose of the special service nets would be to
have each local
Skywarn organization that wishes to participate bring
up a local net on
their skywarn repeater and take checkins from
9:00-9:15 AM on Saturday,
December 2. The purpose of the local net is to
demonstrate
participation and preparedness of that area to assist
in time of severe
weather or other need. The local net would keep a
total of the number
of stations checking in, number of those checking in
who were trained
Skywarn observers, and number of those checking in
that are active local
ARES/RACES members.

Then, the each participating local net would send a
representative to
the area special service Skywarn net that will convene
on 3.963MHz in
the 75 meter phone band (which is the Missouri NTS
Phone net frequency
and Missouri Emergency Services Net frequency), and
report in the
following information collected from their local
special net:

Local Net Name: (i.e. Sullivan Area Weather Net)
Local Net Freq: (i.e. 146.805)
Total number of local check-in's: (i.e. 20)
Number of Trained Skywarn Observers checking in:
(i.e. 18)
Number of active local ARES/RACES members checking in:
 (i.e. 15)

The area net, on 3.963MHz, will collect the data from
each reporting
local net - compile the data and report it to the
Section Emergency
Coordinator Don Moore, KM0R and Missouri Section
Traffic Manager Dale, AE0S.
