[Mobile-Portable] More noise cures

Sonny , I read at Alan's K0BG site or somewhere else that if one adds caps and diodes to a vehicles injector leads it will interfere with the data being sent to them. There is data going down the injectors power leads too. It could cause timing problems or shut it down altogether . I wanted to do that but after reading that back away from it. I have decided to toroid and copper foil the injector leads outside the engine. Also shield the computer. And add extra grounding to the valve covers. A member reminded me that valve covers are separated by gaskets and thick heat paint from the heads and block. And valve covers are not bolted on tight at all due to the chances of warping them and causing a leak. So a ground strap to each valve cover could not hurt nothing. I'm glad that my Excursions are on a 3/4 ton truck frame. After I add all of these toroids , bond / ground straps and shielding / copper tape , it might be able to handle the extra weight ! LOL LOL !!! Just kidding , Thanks for the help , Randy N5WV

Hi Randy,
You didn't want to try the diodes and ceramic caps?

Group , I wrote about the fuel injectors and connecting wires being up
under the valve covers of the engine. Then they are under a oil rail tube that
must be removed. The parts up under the metal valve covers should be
shielded by the valve covers. So with that , If I installed mix 31 toroids and
snap beads where the wires leave the engine shouldnt that be just as good as
installing them at the point where they connect to the injector that is
under the metal valve covers ? I have the Ford service manuals and have
located the wires and harness. Cant get any wraps but can add a good many mix 31
snap beads and wrap with copper foil and copper tape. I guess this is a
try and see what happens item. But with the injector and part of the power
and control wires being inside the metal valve cover. Those covers should
make a great electromagnetic shield and should not worry about toroiding
inside them. Am I thinking right ? Randy N5WV

Interesting conversation, but I think we should get back to something
radio-related. :)
