GM produced a converted gasoline engine for its diesel cars and first diesel powered pick ups in the late 80s . They were horrible and gave diesel powered cars and trucks a bad name for many years. Most have forgotten that and todays products are of high quality by all manufacturers . I just posted about our area here in E Texas and NW La, going CNG with fueling stations popping up everywhere here. Dealers are offering CNG modified vehicles here now. But we thought it would be around a dollar a gallon with the huge Haynesville Shale gas find we had. Its the 4th largest find in history. But they started it at just over $2.00 gallon. Used to be one figured what it cost to produce a product then ad 15 to 20 % profit. That has changed. Its now priced at the highest price that they figure people will pay before saying no. If it cost 5 cents a gallon to get it to the pump , it would still be priced at over $2.00 a gallon. Everything is now priced that way. I better clear off. Im way off mobile portable ham radio and new to this site. Randy N5WV

Hi Jerry,
I remember years ago when diesel cars first came out, that was one of
it's selling points in that it was cheaper that gasoline. It should be
cheaper to make so what changed?

Diesel fuel is not cheap either. Here in PA it's pretty expensive.
