You're right.  Chocolate is a major food group.  In fact, it's a very
important one.

I think the reason Pizza Hut is a tad bit better here is that eating is the
primary activity in Hawaii.  Most people think it's surfing but that just
builds up an appetite.  As a result, food places have to be good or they
lose patrons ... with the exception of Mickey D's et al where no one expects
the fare to taste like food.  From what I understand, Pizza Hut learned that
lesson a while back and have provided the folks doing the food prep and
cooking, such as it is, with some freedom to adjust as the local tastes
require.  The fast food chains don't allow that but rather require that
their "formula" be adhered to without deviation.  Where you are, they
wouldn't try hard given the competition and I'm surprised they even hang
around unless there are also one each Taco Hell and KFC in the area.  They
tend to go in groups like that since they all are - or were - owned by
PepsiCo and were clustered at various locations.  

So much fun, so few fuzzy fish. ;-)

Yeh, pizza probably added a few kilograms here too, but sweets are my real  
nemesis - chocolate (another major food group) especially. I'm wondering  
why Pizza Hut can't produce good pizza here. There's a lot of Italians here

(married to one - KB1EBF) in south central Conn. and the area is known  as 
being an epicenter of good pizza, particularly in and around New Haven.  
Pizza Hut is thusly regarded as something of a joke. They don't even try.
   Good that you have something decent there though. Sausage,  cheese, 
mushrooms, anchovies. Now must get pizza today. Newcastle to go with it
too. I

Pizza in and of itself is a major food  group, one I happen to enjoy
immensely ... which is one of several things  that contributed to my
immensity.

Which, of course, only served to deepen the despondency.   

Actually, I can't say that here.  The Pizza Huts here in Hawaii  seem to 
have
the ability to actually produce somewhat decent pizza.
