Pizza in and of itself is a major food group, one I happen to enjoy
immensely ... which is one of several things that contributed to my
immensity.

Which, of course, only served to deepen the despondency.  

Actually, I can't say that here.  The Pizza Huts here in Hawaii seem to have
the ability to actually produce somewhat decent pizza.
