Hello to all you HF mobiles.
Curious what the rest of you all do to prep your HF mobiles for winter.
Running a TS-480HX in to a HiQ 5/160 screw driver antenna on the rear of
a 2005 Trail Blazer.
Items I have performed so far are:
Tightened up all connections for the antenna mount, quick disconnect on
the antenna mount, and grounding cables.
Made sure all taped up areas are sealed well, and re-taped if needed.
Cleaned out all quick disconnects male and female ends, and put on a
fresh layer of lubricant.
Tightened all connections on the screw driver antenna, including
capacity hat elements and whip mount.
Thoroughly cleaned the full HiQ antenna mast, coil, top hat wire
elements, whips and extension rods.
Applied RainX to full HiQ antenna from bottom to top. Helps winter slush
to fall off easily and avoiding any arc over around the coil.
Cleaned and RainX for the two meter / four forty roof antenna.
Checked all equipment cables and connections, and made sure all were
tight. Especially power.
Made tests on all bands, six meters - one sixty looking for rfi to the
vehicle (which was running) and to the transmitted audio.
Cleaned off all control heads and connected / disconnect cables a couple
of times to make sure connections were clean with no intermentants when
wiggling.
Installed laptop, cell phone, and geiger counter. Started them all up,
verified connections and internet feed to laptop worked, and geiger
relayed counts to the two radiation maps on the internet.

Verified I had a copy of my ham license in seat pouch.
Verified I had a copy of each states laws about scanner radios and ham
operations (we are allowed to do that, but some officers dont know it)
Verified I had the right tools in the vehicle to put on and take off
antenna's as needed.
Verified spare cables, mics, connectors, fuses and cable adapters were
stored in vehicle.
Checked grab and go kit for spare medications, prescriptions, paper copy
of phone numbers and address.
