I emailed Tarheel on the 7th of March and have received no response. Any other suggestions for finding a 5-foot SLENDER whip?
Thanks,
Earl

Might you have a 5-foot whip available? Or could the 6-footer be cut down to 5 feet?
I have a set of antique Master Mobile coils, and the Master Mobile 3-foot bottom mast, but the only whip I have is about 50", and the 20-meter coil with that whip works at around 17 MHz. Originally the Master Mobile coils were meant to use a 5-foot whip.
I would like to find a really slender whip, similar to a Larsen Kulrod, as the coils are irreplaceable, and have been out of production for almost 50 years. I'm thinking a slender whip would put a lot less strain on the coils, and probably not break the center insulator. The stainless steel 102" whips are a bit larger than I am comfortable using on these coils.
Thanks for the help,
Earl

Thanks for the help, Mac. I've emailed Tarheel, here's hoping they have what I'm looking for.

I ran my Master Mobile single band Hi-Q coil antenna for
over 20 years with the 3 ft base section and either a 7
or 8 foot top whip. The more whip you have, the less
coil you need and that provides for a lower overall loss
in your antenna system!

Well I've got one, but no credit to me for it. It was
given to me by a good friend who knows I like the old
Master Mobile stuff.
I haven't tried it on the air yet, but I just might
do so this summer. The coil is absolutely GREEN with
corrosion, so I'll have to take it apart and clean it
first.
I also have (1 each) for 15, 20, 40, and 80, but I'm
having trouble finding a 5-foot whip to go on top. I'm
afraid to cut down a 102" whip, as I feel it might be
too heavy for the coils -- if one breaks, I can't just
order a new one from AES!
