I ran my Master Mobile single band Hi-Q coil antenna for
over 20 years with the 3 ft base section and either a 7
or 8 foot top whip. The more whip you have, the less
coil you need and that provides for a lower overall loss
in your antenna system!

Well I've got one, but no credit to me for it. It was
given to me by a good friend who knows I like the old
Master Mobile stuff.
I haven't tried it on the air yet, but I just might
do so this summer. The coil is absolutely GREEN with
corrosion, so I'll have to take it apart and clean it
first.
I also have (1 each) for 15, 20, 40, and 80, but I'm
having trouble finding a 5-foot whip to go on top. I'm
afraid to cut down a 102" whip, as I feel it might be
too heavy for the coils -- if one breaks, I can't just
order a new one from AES!
