There used to be articles in either 73 or QST with folks soldering to
the non-protective side of a blade fuse to get easy access to power
without adding another fuse position in a car.  It was usually easier
and safer to run fused wiring directly to the battery.

The hardest part was finding the right combination of heat and wire that
would allow the soldered wire to remain while not heating the fusing
element enough with the soldering iron to cause element failure.

Thus it has been done, but I don't know how common it was or is!
