[Mobile-Portable] ICOM tuner question

That should not be a problem as long as you
use ONLY the center conductor of coax such
as RG-8, RG-9, RG-213, or RG-214. Do NOT
leave the shield and jacket on!

Also, you absolutely need to make that feed wire
as short as possible, i.e., < inches. Everything
from the output insulator of the Icom (or SGC)
tuner is actually part of your antenna and it is
hardly a good idea to be wasting radiated power
inside your trunk or cabin!

Subject: [Mobile-Portable] ICOM tuner question

I have been an SGC antenna coupler mobile user for many years
and have no complaints with that equipment. In the past I have
been able to mount the tuner under trunk lid and with 9 to 13
inches of coax connect my mobile mount antenna.

Now I have a Vibe and am thinking about an ICOM Tuner that
will be by the radio and coax from there to the antenna. Since
I don't have a trunk lid I am just letting my mind outside the
box and wander.

Any thoughts on the ICOM tuner configured like that?
