Forgot to mention the coax. Is it top quality, no RS junk? Is it
contaminated, water, oil, etc inside? Is it shorted at the ends or some one
stuck a pin/nail thru it? If open at the antenna, seal it. Does it come
inside the cap through the door welt? If so is it pinched? Better to bring
it inside via a hole/gourmet in the cab.

Ground the antenna bracket. I think you said it was a gutter mount. If
so, you will have to remove paint and primer to get to the bare metal. Just
tighten it up will not work. Is the gutter grounded to the cab? Is the cab
ground to the chassis? What size wire do you have going to the battery? Is
the radio grounded? Make sure you have a fuse in the -/+ lines at the
battery.
I ran a 706MKIIG and Hustler antennas for over seven years. Sold the 706
and now have a 7000 with no problems.

Ok guys another question about this mobile setup of mine.
I put the 706 in low power and Swr is flat, I bump it up to medium or high
power and swr's go ABT 2.3:1...
Why do they do that on high power?

Brian
