OK Don --
I meant to mention that too. If you use the "official" Icom
control head mounting hardware, the control head easily
fastens to a bracket which attaches to your vehicle. To
remove the control head, just slide the head to the side
about a half inch and it comes loose from the bracket. A
quick finger push on the cable connector and the cable is
free and you can take the control head with you..... (who
was it that said, "you can't take it with you"? They were
wrong)
I used a 120 in my van for several years and replaced it with
a 130 with the digital remote VFO. The 706 will run rings
around either of those rigs.
Although it's in a truck instead of a car, you can see how I
mounted my 706MKII at:
