[Mobile-Portable] A 2 Meter radio question

    Just don't take one to field day if there are other  2M rigs present and 
try to operate CW. Granted the rig is an nice one but when  you go to CW the 
oscillator comes on and they key the finals or final stages.  The oscillator 
can be hers for about 5 miles in the clear. We used one here for  a beacon 
transmitter until hams within five miles complained about the constant  carrier on 
the beacon frequency when it wasn't being keyed. Also, in that type  of 
service if there is ever a power glitch the rig has to be reset or it just  sets 
there and does nothing.
    We, Rocky Mountain VHF+ Group, changed it out for a  Hamtronics TA-51 
series transmitter on 2M and have had no problems, or  complaints.
