Phil,
I have an SGC 237 Tuner setup with the SG 2020 HF rig
which puts out max 35 watts. I also have the ICOM 706
that will be installed in the next vehical.
Tuning:
I merely hit the transmit button and start talking or
hit the straight key and start sending CQ. In very
short order the tuner has done its job.
The is an option you can get to exercise more control
over the tuner, but even SGC admits it is not
required. I use a 102" whip and when the speed is
changing the tuner will retune automatically as the
feed point impedence varies with the flexing of the
antenna.
This is the third vehical the setup has been in and
the tuner is about 1.5 feet from the base of the
antenna.

The story with pictures is here, mine is the Impala on
the left. If you have other questions, I will try and
answer them.
