[Mobile-Portable] Hybrids

Robert,
I drive a Honda Insight Hybrid as my daily driver and have found that it
generates a fairly broadband digital noise that seems to get into my
tri-band handheld mostly on UHF. It is only a problem when the handi is in
close proximity to the dashboard, probably the location of the electronics
generating the noise. Because of this, I don't put it in the otherwise handy
cupholder, but instead clip it to the sunvisor. As most of this vehicle is
built of non-ferrous metals and plastic, I have not installed a external
antenna on it though I'm sure this would isolate the radio from the noise
source much better than my using the rubber duckie inside the car.
