Ah...

I forgot to tell of my hole-less 706 Remote Head installation...

My dash board has a cup holder which slides out toward the driver for use.
--It is about 1/2 inch thick and rides in rails on each side of it.
--I removed this cupholder and stored it away for safekeeping.

I fashioned a piece of about 1/2 inch thick by 6 x 6 inch plastic to fit
in the cupholder rails...I suppose a hardwood board would work fine, too.
I also suppose one could use the ashtray area or a plastic cover which is
over a space that is not used for one of the manufacturer's options. Just
buy another plastic cover to cobble-up for your Ham radio use, and you'll
have the original cover stored away safely for when you sell the vehicle.

Finally, I angeled the front edge of my new plastic piece quite a bit
toward the driver and also angled it upward a bit as well,... ...then
drilled and tapped that front edge for mounting the Remote Head's
mounting plate. When I glance over there from the driver's seat the Remote
Head's face is square with my vision.

Slick. Works great!

Speaking of selling Ham Radio Mobile Installation vehicles.
That's fine if you have to do it, but I have dozens of hours of work and
wire strung all over my vehicle. To change vehicles is a horrendous task.
--When a guy hit me and totalled my vehicle the insurance co. had to pay
the estimate I got from a car stereo shop to do the rewiring and to do the
removal and reinstallation of the equipments and antennae...over $1000 for
that re-do into another vehicle of the same kind/style...I think that's
cheap for the necessary work needed to re-do my various installations
