I have the same vents in my Dodge. I agree, I think they are for when the
doors are closed, and possibly when the fan is running for the heater or
A/C. The cabs of most vehicles are pretty well sealed up these days,
possibly to keep wind noise down to a minimum. Didn't think of using these
vents to run cables through.
