The first thing I would do--and the thing that has probably solved or at 
least reduced 90% of my ignition noise over the years--I would bond the 
tailpipe to the frame of the car.  Tailpipes are nice quarter-wavelength 20 
meter horizontally polarized antennas that are connected to your engine 
manifold right next to the primary source of ignition noise.  If nowhere 
else, I would at least bond it at the rear of the car.

There are lots of ways you can do this yourself, but if you are a total 
mechanical klutz, take a 12-inch length of RG-213 bare braid to a muffler 
shop and ask them to "tack" weld one end of it to the tailpipe and the 
other to a convenient place on the frame.  They should be able to do this 
for minimal cost and in minimal time.  If it doesn't help, you have lost 
very little, but this has proven to be a magic cure for many a mobile noise 
problem.
