>I have compared the diamond antenna against a homebrew
>screwdriver on 40 meters, and someone giving me results from about 2
>miles away. The screwdriver won every time by at least 15 dB.

I have also compared my signal using the Comet with another ham just a few
hundred yards away who was using a screw driver and guess what, the distant
station reported that I was 2 S points stronger (that's 12 dB).

>Now of course if you want to discuss 10 meters, there conceivably would
>not be much if any difference. On 20 meters, the Comet might be almost
>competitive with a screwdriver (although small coil with low Q should be
>less effective)

That is the point I was trying to make when the original poster worried
about the perceived poor performance of the Diamond. At no time did I
state that a screw driver doesn't work, all I was attempting to do was to
show that the Comet or the Diamond despite some handicaps also work very
well if installed correctly, and can outperform more expensive screwdrivers.

>I'm glad you get to run mobile
>HF, it can be real fun, but your antenna is outperformed by most of the
>other choices out there for HF on most bands, including the Hustler
>Resonators.

On what basis do you make that claim, particularly since I let you verify
for yourself the excellent DX that can be worked with the Comet?
