well, consider the construction of the ham stick antenna vs the steel whip.

Hamstick:
1/2 fiberglass, 1/2 adjustable whip
small gauge copper wire
can be broken down in half for shipping
will stand upright at highway speeds

steel whip:
all steel
large diameter whip - larger then the copper wire
can be bent over and held with a gutter clip
bends in the wind.

OK, the fiberglass can be broken of under pressure (highway speeds for many
miles cracked my hamstick style antenna), steel takes a lickin and keeps a
tickin.
The steel whip will have a broader bandwidth.
The hamstick weighs less.

I would go with the steel whip if it were me, and I use both style antennas.

I've narrowed it down to these 2 for mobile operation with my HTX-10 on 10
meters. Many websites extoll the virtues of each. I must say that I'm
torn. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks and 73,
