I run the K400 also and use hamsticks with no problem
at all.  I was not able to get a good ground on trunk
lid alone [scraping].  I have ran a ground strap from
tuner to main body.  Sorry off subject, the trunk lip
mount is super.  Check periodically from wind etc, a
couple of the four set screws can work loose.  I check
them every couple of months, in last year had to
tighten twice.  Very satisfied with setup.
