[Mobile-Portable] Tuning a FT100D with a High Sierra antenna

Here comes this year's winner in the "dumbest question" category.

What is the safest, quickest, most effective way to manually tune a High
Sierra mobile antenna with a FT100D?

The technique of changing the antenna coil position while listening for
loudest noise in radio doesn't seem to work for me.

Usually I am NOT driving while using the radio. But, if I am alone and want
to change bands, I cannot be staring at the radio and using three hands unless
I pull over and stop.

Please do NOT assume that I fully comprehend how to manipulate the FT100D. I
have been going through the users manual and tinkering but haven't solved
this SIMPLE task yet.

Any suggestions?
