[Mobile-Portable] Computer heavy vehicles

I just purchased a BMW with computers that run everything including the
cigar lighter (I think). The dealer said don't install any "third party"
stuff when I asked about communications gear. His response led me to
believe he really did not understand what I was going to do - install an
ICOM 706MKIIG. Has anyone out there had experience with computer
problems or operational problems? I intend to choke everything between
the radio and the car. The install itself will be on a board in the
cargo area and an external receiver hitch antenna mount. All the wiring
would be a short run out the back through the door seal. The only
physical connection to the car would be the ground and the power supply
which, because the battery is in the rear would be very short and as I
said heavily choked. Comments? Suggestions? Resources?
