Thanks Ekki -- in fact, the screw was NOT installed and you may have hit
the nail on the head.... I will try that for sure!!
I did cure the problem by using a choke on the separation cable, right as
it enters the radio head. But maybe that would not have been necessary had
I used the screw.
One other question... is it normal for the toroids on the 12v line to the
motor to "heat up"? After having a few QSOs, I noticed they were warm to
the touch.
