Dear fellow DXer
Many of you know and are friends with Steve Boller, N0NO, a long time member of both TCDXA and MWA. For those that don’t know him well, You may have seen his “Big Bertha” tower and antennas, which dominate the skyline in Tonka Bay, where he lives.
Steve is an avid and long time DXer, who was one of the first amateurs in Minnesota to qualify for 5BDXCC, way back in the 70’s. His contesting skills are also well known to us old timers. He was once number one in the entire country in the Sweepstakes. After some years of relative inactivity, during the past two or three years he has been active again and has recently been working on DXCC for 12 meters.
What you may not know is that Steve has been in and out of the hospital in the past several weeks. He has been diagnosed with a form of gastro-intestinal cancer and, as a result, has recently gone through some very serious surgery. Unfortunately the prognosis is not favorable for long term survival. He is continuing to receive treatment at Methodist Hospital. I am sending this message out with the approval of both Steve and his wife, Diane. They felt that Steve’s friends in the ham community should know about his condition. However, they respectfully request that cards, flowers, gifts, etc. not be sent. Steve is not able to easily talk on the telephone and Diane is so very busy that they also have asked that you not try to call. If you want updates on his condition, I would be happy to take your calls and tell you what I know.
In the meantime, I trust your thoughts and best wishes will be with Steve and his family.
