A friend, Jon, K1VVC in Greer, SC, robbed all the knobs off an RAK he bought just for the knobs. I bought the knobless rig from and and restored it Jon wanted the knobs because they are identical to the knobs he needed for an old 1920/30 RCA broadcast TRF. I used standard knobs on the RAK until I found a junker and swapped the correct knobs onto the one I got from Jon a decade or more ago. The RAK on a homebrew PS I bult to run it, complete with the mysterious regulated 90 volts, and the RAL with correct PS I got from Brian, KN4R, are still working very will. I use the RAK in winter for NDB searches and other things of interest, but the RAL usually sits on one of the WWV freqs.
Both those receivers are just works of art to me, with all the cast aluminum parts especially that tuning cap, the totally encased coils saturated in wax. They don't make 'em like that anymore, for sure.
