China makes big sine wave DC-AC 50 and 60 hz 110 VAC inverters dirt cheap. I bought one of the cheaper ones and have been pleased with its performance,  I corresponded with the company and asked if they would consider making 400 Hz versions and they replied it would be a very easy thing to do, but there was almost zero market for such a device and therefore they were not going to build one. I took the cover off of mine to see if there was some way to figure out how to change the frequency, but I couldn’t decipher the circuitry. The company politely declined to provide any circuit information.

Mike, thanks a lot for the information, more than I expected.

I am planning on looking at it tomorrow, only 40 min or so from my location.  The seller did power it on. Looks like it powers up, frequency display responds, I will take a meter to check for output that is hopefully close the internal meter.
