Maybe this was covered but… The nomenclature system was redesigned post WW2 (anyone know when)? So, prior to the AN system, SCR definitely stood for Set, complete Radio. After the adoption of the AN system it meant something else, no doubt
“Surface Water Craft, Carrier, Receiving.”
But this discussion was about BC (basic component) and SCR, both pre-AN system designations.

Well pardon the intrusion but I was the only one that provided an official government document. I also mentioned it was from a later date, So there is that.
I was just providing input which I only do on occasion when I feel like there is some use to what I am providing.
But everyone go ahead and continue saying this or that or other input is wrong with nothing official I’m sure it’s all true.
