it stands for Set,  Complete, Radio.

I’ve read that in several era  documents.

The only document I have on hand  ( post era ) is “World War Two Nomenclature Systens” by Ray Mote W6RIC dated 6 Jan 1994 Section 3.0.

"Signal Corps Radio" is kind of redundant, where this terminology only exists already in the Signal Corps world. "Set, Complete, Radio" makes more sense to me, altho it would be a real chore for me to look thru my paper and try to find actual documenting proof. You know what, tho ? I do find looking thru mil electronics manuals to be a relaxing break - and i'll keep a lookout for actual citation that proves it once and forever.
