I ran across that auction last time too.  My first time and I won a Daystrom DM337 ADR (think Heathkit MR21 and you know what I mean) and a Drake 2C receiver.  They shipped them together to the tune of $110! They were in the same box and appeared very well packed...but the turret on the ADR was broken! I figured it would be useless to try to get restitution as the ADR only set me back the $17 plus the outrageous shipping cost!  There seem to be a lot of things there and as has been said goes for low prices but I was beat out on the Flameproof cw keys and the Collins microphones and the Collins MP-1 DC to AC power supplies that went for about $50 each but were identified as simply "oscillator"!

I prefer the David Schulman auctions as they know what they are doing and check out each piece of gear and tell you what is wrong with it.  The problem is that it is a popular auction so there are lots of bidders where the Ken Carpenter auctions do not tell you anything about the item and often do not even tell you what make/model the item is and you take your chances with it working or not...and then the shippers!

I got an email from the Schulman auction a few days and they have terminated their practice of shipping small items via usps. They let the contract shippers handle it as they now say the FedEx shipping is cheaper than USPS anyway.

Thank you.

It's a great auction. I nearly tried to one of the R-390A's (I think there were 5 up for bid) but decided against it. I stupidly put in a "this is a dumb bid and there is NO way that I will get this item for this absurdly low price" on a Millen 90711 VFO. I won the darn auction (I bid $50) and it was delivered yesterday. TIP for you: The shippers that the auction company uses are VERY nice people but they have no real experience in shipping heavy tube items. Provide them with SPECIFIC shipping instructions if you want your item to arrive undamaged.

I have one of these, it is a 1000VDC and is not a dynamotor, but a solid state power supply with a cooling fan.  Great for a BC375.
