The FCC gave me a rough call back in 1968, WN4MEC.  I went to WB then dropped the B, but I have always been careful on CW, giving good spacing on the M E C part.   If I don't, people will send W4GC.  It is also a bummer for catchy phonetics, so I have stuck to the military standard forever. If I don't MEC sounds like mush.  Has anybody copied that fellow in Spain, EH5H?  He sends his call like pulling the trigger on a Thompson.
