The comment that the gov’t seller would be embarassed to offer the sets  at mil surplus prices compared to acquisition cost amused me.

I read about an incident when B-17 planes were surplused in the Midwest USA. One buyer crashed his purchase on takeoff. He was just given

another, no additional cost.

 

I recall some decades back, reading some religious cult periodical, there was an account by  someone active against the Castro gov’t.

Author said he used a message – compression device radio. This would compress the voice audio in the time domain. I am sure i still

have the article “somewhere” and if i find it, i will scan for you.
