Hi Charlie

When I wired up my SCR-274N I did not connect the mute line as I realized I needed the RX on during TX to spot myself!

The good folks at Hanger Thirteen were good enough to send me the engineering diagrams for the metal and wood racks used on different variants of the B-17.  I plan to build one this winter.   My current grey rack os wide,  and the two on the B-17 were tall,  and the tall racks will give me more display space.

Very nice writeup Mark.  I was not privy to the info on this event, and if I did know would have attempted a sked with you even at 400 miles away in WNC.  I did a similar display at Triple Tree airfield in SC a couple years ago with SCR gear mounted properly in the B17 radio compartment t bulkhead mount(display only) and using a BC375/348 running on dynamotor, but was unable to work anyone due to the racket the amplidynes for the ball turret was making.  You demo of netting the TX and RX reminded me of my first attempt to use the BC375 and BC348 on an SKN,  all set up and warmed up, then realizied I had no way to net the TX to the station I wanted to work without using the freq meter to do so.  I corrected that the next year the same way they solved the problem in the B17, adding a switch to unmute the receiver, and mounted it right next to the key.  If you do this again, let me know, PA is broadside to my antenna.
