Agreed. The ARRL has become an organization that is creating a generation of "appliance operators";
folks who have expertise in using a checkbook, but who are kinda hazy when it comes to using a VOM.
I gave up on the League a long time ago. They've become nothing more than a mouthpiece for the
makers of ham gear.
This is why I've taken to hanging out on 160 meters, where it takes a bit of knowledge to operate.
Just saw this:

League membership is down to 135,000, guessing these kinds of ideas are
driving the exodus, along with many other stupid plans on their part.
