I have bought brushes from shops that repair power tools or vacuum cleaners and filed and sanded them to size. Be alert for vacuum cleaners, mixers blenders, food processors on trash night.

Anyone have success in making dynamotor brushes for their WWII military equipment?
I have watched videos on making your own replacement brushes using Carbon from a D-cell battery, or ordering a block of hard carbon stock.
Lots of grinding and sanding is evolved. So if you have had success in building/repairing these brushes I would interested in your thoughts.
Thanks
