There was an article in 'Popular Science" nagazine circa 1961 on project "A Hookah Powered Radio". The project instructed on a candle powered version. The parts list called for  both #34 and #36 wire. I had no mentor, knew no better, so i ordered spools of both from Allied. I actually only needed hardly any footage of each, so i ended up with near full spools left over. A mentor would have told me, "It's not critical. For this one - transistor regen we can use a loopstick and for the base feed winding, we can use a few turns of any wire you have around."  I am still miffed about that article's directions. The "floor-sweeping" transistor from Olson did not help, either.
