I am no expert on Litz wire and it's use vs. regular small insulated copper. I will just relate some knowledge that I have gained while perusing the Internet and reading articles by people who have far more experience on this subject than me. Basically, the highest quality IF Transformers use Litz wire. HOWEVER, decent quality IF transformers can and have been wound using Bifiler (two wire) or Trifiler (three wire) consisting of very small diameter wires in place of Litz wire. It must also be noted that the coil geometry also plays a huge difference in Q of the coil. All other things being equal, a universal wound IF coil will have a higher Q than a straight form wound coil. Hope this helps, 73, Gordon KJ6IKT

Have also installed a BCB receiver IF (6BE6 or BA6 IIRC)
into a 6SK7 circuit and it worked OK.
