Was there any provision from the FCC for military radio operators who knew code well to get an amateur license more easily and quickly? There was and is a streamlined process for military pilots to get pilot's licenses.

Hi,

There was a pretty cool one that I never got to know.  My friend's grandfather Watson Czerwinski was an AAF radio operator in WWII.  He was also a ham.  He became an engineer and did some pretty interesting antenna work with the Army at Camp Evans, some of which we recognize as vehicular antennas, and others maybe not including a helicopter antenna.

He was a ham also I think W2JSJ.

Check out this biography from an IEEE publication:

His would be a good story to tell at InfoAge.
