I have encountered was a contact lubricant for the old "panel" central office telephone switching system. You rubbed the side of your nose with a finger, then applied the oil to a large sliding contact in the equipment.

Salt, dirt, dead skin, hair, lint, fuzz, perspiration, atmospheric debris, and face mites probably isn't one of them...
