Ray,

What make/model capacitor tester are you using?

Ray,
I see you are using a PP-327(A or B?). I just acquired a "B" unit of
unknown provenance that had the power cord cut off, but nearly pristine on
the inside with the exception of seeing the blower motor disconnected. When
you acquired your power supply, did you completelyre-cap before applying
power? I see the warning in the manual to never power up without a load (or
radio) attached; but want to get some insight into what to expect before
applying power.

The PP-327B is on loan for this project, the story I was told is that it was NOS and never used and is very clean. Because it appears to have never been used, I did check all the DC to ground resistances and also connected a external power supply set to 3.0 volts with current limiting to the Low voltage - filament bus. That's the junction of L3, L4 and C7 and let that cook for a day to reform the three huge capacitors (C6, C7 and C8) and then did HV checks with an external capacitor tester, a real capacitor bridge and not some little POS digital tester and ran them up to working voltage to check C1, C2 @650 volts and C3A and B @200 volts.
Think after that it's all ready to go. Have to say the PP-327B is uptown with its B+ regulation and clean design. Like that box way better than the stock 327
If you don't have it download TM-11-5070/ TO-31R2-2GRC-9-21 from Radionerds
