Any acid will remove more than rust.
Evap-o-rust will only remove iron oxide, it will not attack the
steel below the rust and it is non toxic.
It will remove gun blueing as it is an oxide.
I have used a lot of it and it works very well.
If you soak a rusted toll in it you will probably wind up with
black residue that washes off.
This is the carbon that was in the rust.
This is a solution that falls into the too good to be true
category.
