Some thoughts of mine while viewing:
1- humans can get so much done cooperatively. Like getting thousands of men and heavy machines and continuous supply lines to some obscure So. Pacific areas.
2- it must be hell when some pilot fails for unknown reason to return and you have to erase his name from the board. As stated in the film, but not dwellt upon, even a recon squadron has losses.
3- US military should have permitted and issued short pants for tropical duty.
4- i like the ever evident sense of humor among our troops.
5- compare the actual engine mtce work in this real film against the obvious pointless idling and pretend "work" seen in some war movies. "Thin Red Line" comes to mind, but i may be wrong and remembering a particular scene from some other movie.
6- i worry about how those P-39s did against the Japanese type Zero.
