I don't think I have ever seen one at a hamfest, but if you have one that needs a new home, please contact Caleb N7NFD (see below)

Subject: AN/URC-7 at Lighthouse

Hey Nick,

My name is Caleb Pal, and I'm a amateur/mil radio guy up here in Washington state. I've seen your posts on the Harris group, and also found your website recently.

I'm emailing you to get a little more information about the AN/URC-7. The last 3 years I have been a Docent at Light Station Patos Island, participating in the National and International Lighthouse and Lightship weekends. We have stood up HF stations, using a combination of Codan, Harris, and COTS gear.

In looking through the history of the lighthouse, it appears that the USCG had a AN/URC-7 here, possibly operating under the callsign "NNFD". This would have been installed in the early 60's near I can tell.

The volunteer organization that runs the Docent program, Keepers of the Patos Light (KOPL) is looking to enhance the display in the lighthouse as it relates to radio history out here. My question being, how rare are the URC-7's? Pie in the sky would be a functioning unit. If that's not doable, a static display of a unit would be great.

Appreciate any information/thoughts you may have.

V/r
