Another thought experiment:

In a bunch of parts i recently bought, there were a couple of Jackson Brothers planetary reduction drives. ( I think that’s what they

are called. ) When i saw them, i thought, well, the RBM-hf, what if you moved the tuning capacitor back a little ( i think this may

be more do-able than it sounds ) and installed the Jackson drive between the capacitor shaft and the front panel. Thus gaining

better tuning, that is, fewer kHz per knob revolution. As you know, the tuning rate on the RBM-hf / RBS receivers is atrocious

on the higher bands. I do not know if the Jackson drive has backlash, slip, or such. Anyway i already have enough more practical

work to do.
