Hi

I don’t think this is even specific to the “historical radio” market. The number of folks setting up fancy HF stations in general has been declining for quite a while. The range of brand new HF gear today (models, manufacturers, types) isn’t what it once was.

Respectfully,  I disagree that even the most pristine and complete ART-13 would regularly sell at a kilo-buck-plus price.

I'm sure there are two or three of us out here who can name apocryphal events or eBay anomalies where somebody paid an exorbitant amount of money for an ART-13.   But if we were able to survey hamfests over 2023-24 which happened to have an ART13 for sale, I'm very confident that a price for even the most beautiful of $250 will result in least 50-70% of them going back home again.

We who care about this equipment and it's history are falling faster than autumn leaves. More and more nice equipment is coming on the market with fewer and fewer buyers. That is not a recipe for $2,500 ART-13s.  Maybe if this were 2004 or 1994, but not now.  Those who think they're going to help pay for their retirement by selling their surplus gear are going to be disappointed.
In 10 more years, you will not be able to reliably give-away an ART-13.  I have some really nice equipment that even works, which would have brought a pretty penny 20 years ago,but it is difficult now to find someone who will just drive a few miles to pick it up for free.
