Hi Hue, the receiver I've got is an R-203/SR, which is essentially the commercial (RMCA  model AR8506-A) marine receiver. It was a $5 NWVRS find and it's become one of my favorite SWL receivers. Everything just works like it should - very well made. All I'm missing is the name plate and the shock mount assembly.

Regarding removed cabinets, I'm guilty of that, but probably for different reasons. Many of the boat anchor receiver cabinets are heavy by themselves, so I leave them on the storage shelf when I move the receiver to a cleared position on my workbench. Added benefits are: warming a cold room; cooler radio on a hot day; and experiencing the magic glow of tubes in the evening!

However, the receivers always go back into their cabinets after shut off, and cool down.
