I recall some decades back, now this would be around 1973, i wrote a CQ advertiser asking about R-390A.

I think the seller was maybe Slep. I got back a letter – this was papermail days – with some info about the

R-390A. I recall the letter said that heat was a killer and the thing was better off resting on a couple two by

fours supports underneath to give it some more cooling. I don’t know if that was really true and welcome

anyone’s comment.

I bought a couple R-648 ARR-41 receivers about the same time; neither worked and at the time, i was not up

to repairing them. I also ordered a BC-312 from G&G but i got a reply about a year later asking if i still wanted

the receiver – the owner had some medical reversal and had been gone from business during the interim.

Fortunately for me – i declined at that time to renew my order. One good decision i have made.
