Mackay Radio was a longtime customer of Hammarlund.

I have an SP-600 that was used by Mackay for teleprinter traffic in the 1950s-60s at its Southampton, NY receiving station (WSL). It was modified by Northern Radio. The mods consisted of removing the crystal HFO, outboarding both the VFO and the BFO, altering the 1^st converter, and modifying the audio stages.

I’ve attached a photo of the nameplate, which covered the spot where the crystal HFO controls used to be.
