I was running about 300 watts. The URC-32 uses AFSK so the finals still run as a linear amp. I got it running Thursday and noted the start-up chirp but haven’t had a chance to investigate. It is a xcvr so the synthesizer shouldn’t glitch between XMT and RCV. Maybe something peculiar to the FSK oscillator?
There’s always something to investigate!

But it was fun to activate the beast on RATT. I’ve been using it on the 7296 USB voice net with the handset.

congrats on getting the Mighty Collins up and running ! are you running at full power? running real FSK or using audio ? I also notice that when you first come up you are maybe one hundred or so cycles low but come on channel within a fraction of a second.
gives you signal a unique way to identify, something like Ken had with his three-tone system but now he has that fixed and can't hear it anymore.

I finally got around to wiring up my URC-32 to my TTY, keying, and audio switchboards (I’d just been using the handset previously). I also had to install a field change from 1962 or so.
The URC-32 seemed to work fine on the 850 shift RATT net this morning. We had 8 check-ins and a nice roundtable chat.
When was the last time a URC-32 was running RATT? I suspect a long time ago…..
