I happen to really like the look of the ‘Command sets’ use that has the trans and rec side by side in a 2- transmitter rack.

This is shown in the book, ‘Command Sets’, 1957, page 36, “Command Set Special”. However, that article says hacksaw

work is required to modify the 2 – transmitter rack, and i would not do that to any unhacked rack.  This work is necessary

to somehow mount a receiver rack into the 2-transmitter rack.

This side by side rec and trans ensemble showed up on Ebay. The trans is a junker and the rec is nothing to write home

about, but this configuration intrigues me, probably because i really like the idea of “Novice ham radios”. So my question is,

how does this work, can you just set the receiver down in one bay of the 2-transmitter rack ?  Without using any receiver

rack at all ?

In the Command Sets book article, what and why is hacksawed? As i said, i would not hacksaw any intact rack. I do have

some intact cherry condition Command sets, but no racks, so i’m kind of unfamiliar with them close up, and how a receiver

will  simply drop in. Also just occurred to me, the protrusions on the rec ‘local control adapter’ look different spaced than

those securing protrusions on the transmitter, which must be why the referred to article shows home – fabricated securing

links which are longer than the ones on a receiver rack.
